I have an application that hosts a Visio Drawing Control which works as expected within the Vista OS running Visio 2007. However, some of my users have recently upgraded to Windows 7 (and are still using Visio 2007 in the new Windows 7 installation) and cannot open a Visio drawing within my application. As my application attempts to create a new instance of a visio drawing control the following error occurs ':System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x86DB089A): Requested operation is presently disabled. At Microsoft.Office.Interop.Visio.WindowClass.setBackgroundColorGradient(UInt32 pColor)'. Is there a service pack I need to install? As the error states I am trying to modify the newly created control and the operation is disabled. How do I enable it?
Any help is greatly appreciated. The application I have written uses the Visio drawing control and is deployed and running successfully on many machines today (all of which are running Visio 2007 and Vista). As some of my users have begun to upgrade to Windows 7 my application fails for these users every time a Visio drawing control is created within my application. Paul, is there something I need to change about the associated COM interop assembly to work within Win7?
Do to the design of my application I can't open it directly within Visio because there is nothing to open. I could build a test app that performs far less custimization of the Visio UI and see if the errors go away (a process of elimination approach)?
Visio 2013 Download 64 Bit
The application ships with a handful of Visio templates that we’ve created. An end user is then given access to these templates to create various types of simple engineering style drawings (data driven, reporting, etc). From a security standpoint the Visio files are almost always going to be on the end user's local machine (FYI). As for having Visio installed on the machines, yes the offending machines have Visio installed. As stated above, I’ve tried to run the Visio instances in compatibility mode and this seemed to have no effect. Thanks again!
